Hobby Zone Feature Comparison

Hobby Zone Feature Comparison Overview:

Beginner's Tip: You will see alot of chatter about r/c airplanes with 2, 3, or 4 (or more) "channels". What this means is simple. Each channel on the radio controller is for a function on the airplane. A 2 channel beginner plane would have throttle and rudder. A 3 channel plane would have throttle, rudder, and elevator control and so on. The more channels the more control you have and the more difficult it is to fly. For beginners the more channels you have, the easier it is to crash!

A note about flight times and batteries.......

I get lots of calls at work about flight times and battery recharge times. Keep in mind that there are many variables that affect flight times and recharge times.

It is possible to extend flying times beyond the times listed here if you become good at gliding on hot days. On planes with larger wingspans, you can find updrafts or "thermals" which are small areas of rising air.

If you get good at this, you can actually climb with no power and keep your plane in the air for 1/2 or more on a battery charge. It's actually alot of fun to see just how long you can stay aloft on one charge.

Nearly all electric r/c planes have a voltage cutoff. This is simple programming in airplane electronics that cutoff the power to the motor when the battery is almost depleted. This allows you to glide to a safe landing before your battery runs completely out of power.
